Cramerton, NC - 2021 Street Paving and Maintenance Improvements
Pavement removal and patching where necessary, curb & gutter, concrete driveways at tie-ins, FR-SAMI (fiber reinforced stress absorbing membrane interlayer) for reinforcement of existing surface prior to overlay, asphalt paving overlay, and associated storm drainage retrofitting.
Estimated cost of the project is $1,500,000 to $1,800,000. Approximate Start date and completion date range is between July, 2021 to December, 2021.

Bidders need to submit all questions to the Engineer prior to End of Business May 11, 2021.
Prequalification requirements: Any firm that wishes to bid as a prime contractor shall be prequalified with the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a Bidder or PO Prime Contractor prior to submitting a bid, in accordance with Section 102 of the NCDOT Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures. Information regarding prequalification can be found at: https://connect.ncdot.gov/business/Prequal/Pages/default.aspx.
Prior to performing the work, the prime contractor and/or subcontractor(s) shall be prequalified in the work code(s) which are identified as work items in the prime contractor’s construction progress schedule that they will complete themselves. Any contractor identified as working outside their expertise may be considered in default of contract.
The contractor or its subcontractor shall specifically be prequalified by providing documentation of NCDOT approved materials and methods to provide services for installation of FIBER REINFORCED STRESS ABSORBING MEMBRANE INTERLAYER (FR-SAMI).
Reviewing pre-qualifications will include specifically a minimum review of the following criteria to be considered for selection of award:
- Prime Contractor and any subcontractors shall be listed as prequalified firm with NCDOT to provide services for this contract (Directory of Firms | Connect NCDOT) limited to the approved “Construction Work codes” listed with NCDOT including the placement of the FR-SAMI in accordance to SP-3 of the Project Manual..
- NCDOT Approved Product ID from the Approved Products List (https://apps.ncdot.gov/vendor/approvedproducts/) shall be provided of the FR-SAMI product being proposed for placement meeting all the criteria in SP-3 of the Project Manual. Present historical documents of successful placement and performance of FR-SAMI meeting NCDOT criteria.
Bid Bond or Bid Deposit: Each bid that equals or exceeds $100,000 shall be accompanied by a corporate bid bond or a bid deposit of a certified or cashiers check in the amount of at least 5% of the total amount bid for the contract. When a bid is secured by a bid deposit (certified check or cashiers check), the execution of a bid bond will not be required.
When the bid security is in the form of a bid bond, that bid bond shall be executed by a corporate surety licensed in North Carolina to execute such bonds.
