Ashe County (NC) Airport - Partial Parallel Taxiway and Apron Expansion

Ashe County and the Ashe County Airport (Airport) are proceeding with the Partial Parallel Taxiway and Apron Expansion Project which consists of the western portion of the parallel taxiway and Phase 1 of the apron expansion as identified on the Airport Layout Plan (ALP). It was also decided to include approximately 6 acres of clearing and grubbing as well as approximately 2.5 ac of slope clearing with the project. This work is scheduled to occur around the same time as anticipated construction for this project.

The overall scope of work for the project includes removal of existing pavement and marking; proposed paving; aggregate base course; grading; taxiway lighting and signage; electrical duct bank installation; electrical vault modification; drainage improvements; wind cone relocation; and obstruction removal.

The project will take place at the Ashe County Airport (GEV), which is located approximately three miles north east of Jefferson, NC. The coordinates and elevation of the airport are 35o25’56.83”N, 82o25’14.62”W and 3,181 feet above sea level. A single runway oriented east-west serves the airport. Runway 10-28 is 75 feet wide and 5,001 feet long. The runway system is currently serviced by a single connector taxiway to the apron.
