Charleston, SC - Stoney Field Phase 1 Early Surcharge Package

The project includes a surcharge program to consolidate the existing Stoney Field located off Fishburne Street in the City of Charleston. The project will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will include placement of erosion control measures, limited demolition of site items, installation of approximately 150,000 SF of permeable low strength geotextile fabric within the surcharge limits, installation of a 12” thick drainage layer approximately 5,500 compacted cubic yards consisting of clean sand less than 5% fines passing the #200 sieve, installation of approximately 7,250 prefabricated vertical drains, placement of an additional 24,500 compacted cubic yards of clean sand less than 5% fines passing the #200 sieve, and final site stabilization. Soil monitoring equipment and installation will be provided by others; however, the selected contractor will be required to coordinate their work with the placement of the monitoring equipment. Phase 2 (not in contract) will include removal of the surcharge material and will include grading and drainage to support the construction of a new football field.

All bids are to be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check of not less than five percent (5%) of the base bid. Bid securities of the three low bidders will be retained until Contract award and execution

The successful bidder will be required to furnish Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Amount.
