Bid Security
A bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the contract sum shall be submitted
with each bid. The bid security shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified
check from a bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation and made payable to the order of the City. In lieu of the above, the bidder
may submit a bid bond executed by a corporate surety licensed in North Carolina to
execute such bonds. If the bid does not equal or exceed $100,000, a bid security is not
required.
Additional Information
The City has adopted a policy requiring construction and service Contractors to provide a
drug-free workplace in the performance of any City contract. In addition all bids and
subsequent work performed shall be in strict compliance with the City's Department of
Engineering Services General Contract Conditions as amended.
Bids may be held by the City for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days from the date of
the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing bids and investigating qualifications of
bidders. The City also reserved the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive
informalities or technicalities as it may deem to be in its best interest.
The proposal form provided by the City shall be used and shall not be taken apart or
altered. All bids shall be placed in a sealed envelope having the Bidder's name, address,
North Carolina General Contractor's License Number (if applicable), and the statement
written clearly on the outside "BID FOR MORROW CHASE CDBG SANITARY
STREET - DO NOT OPEN UNTIL THURSDAY JULY 29,2010 at 3:00PM".
The estimated cost of this project exceeds $100,000.
Contractors are encouraged to have access to electronic mail (e-mail) and the internet to
facilitate effective communication and exchange of data. To expedite processing of
checks, payment requests may be e-mailed to the Department Manager.
